Folie à Deux is an active, positive, and inclusive 18+ Discord server for Hannibal & HEU creators, built with the intention of fostering community and support among fandom creatives. We welcome all active and aspiring fandom creators—writers, artists, gif makers, etc!To maintain our positive environment, we have a strict no-judgment protocol, and we don't tolerate kink-shaming, ship/character bashing, or negativity about tropes, portrayals, or fanworks.

In addition to our general discussion channels, we offer creator resources, workshops, roleplay/beta/collaborator searches, locked opt-in dead dove channels, group writing sprints, creator hangouts and voice chats, server-hosted games, server events and streams, and more!We also host a selection of Hannibal & HEU creator challenges in which all are welcome to participate—members and non-members alike.Interested?Come check us out on Discord!

* WHO CAN JOIN FOLIE À DEUX?

Anyone who actively creates and shares Hannibal or HEU fan content publicly, or anyone who is working toward that goal, is welcome to join our discord server! This includes fan artists, fanfic writers, twitter fic writers, gif makers, podfic creators, video editors, etc.

We do not accept members who promote or make frequent use of generative AI. * WHY SHOULD I JOIN?

We created FAD to foster community among Fannibal creatives; we want to make it easier for creators to connect like they did in the old days! And Folie à Deux is a community for creators by creators. Because all of our members are other Hannibal/HEU creatives, you'll be surrounded & inspired by peers!

Our strict no-judgment protocol and rules against negativity and discourse mean our space is first and foremost focused on positivity and inclusion, with no room for unsolicited critique or negativity about others' preferences, interpretations, or creations. We also have a locked, application-based Dead Dove category.

Plus, we've got a globally diverse trans, queer, and sex-positive member base that celebrates trans experiences and queer love in all forms! * WHAT DO YOU OFFER?

We have a broad assortment of discussion channels for chatting, discussing Hannibal and the HEU, and sharing/discussing creative endeavors. We also house creative resources, event promos, collaboration and feedback searches, and more!

We hold body doubling sessions and other creator hangouts, timed writing sprints, movie streams, voice chats, server games like Cards Against Humanity and Frantic Fanfic, and other events, including creator challenges.


We've also got fun extras like custom stickers and emojis, name color roles, a Starboard for memorable posts, a birthday message, a server calendar, and other features.

* WHAT DON'T YOU ALLOW?

Folie à Deux strives toward positivity, acceptance, and understanding among creators. That means we do not allow discourse, fandom politics, or negativity. This includes negativity and unsolicited criticism directed at someone’s work (member or not), bashing tropes or characterization, kink-shaming, ship-shaming, etc. Our server firmly abides by “ship and let ship” and “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” This rule also means we do not allow habitual venting or in-depth discussion of sensitive irl topics.

Additionally, we do not permit generative AI content, Jürgen Voller (Mads’ character from Indiana Jones), or The Sleeping Dictionary anywhere on our server.* FAD RUNS FESTS/CHALLENGES?

Yes! In addition to occasional server-only challenges, exchanges, and events, we run a number of challenges throughout the year that all are welcome to participate in, whether you're a member of our server or not!

Challenges

Folie à Deux's publicly advertised challenges are open to all creators—you don’t need to be a member of our discord server to participate! We accept fills in all mediums (fanart, fanfic, edits, gif sets, etc.) and have no minimum requirements. While our challenges are time-sensitive, we do accept late fills!

If you’re participating in an FAD challenge, please use #FADserver on tumblr and twitter (and tag us too!) so we can find and reblog your work. If you’re submitting a fic, we also encourage you to post to the challenge’s Ao3 collection.Be sure to check challenge specifics! Challenge rules may vary slightly from the above. * IN EVERY WORLD (MAY 2023): A week-long fest celebrating the Hannibal Extended Universe. Ran from May 22 through May 28 and featured daily prompts. Each day had its own theme, with the selection spanning an assortment of tropes and genres.
